The ORCA SWIM TEAM, established in 1984 after Gay Games I, promotes the sport of fitness and competitive swimming and actively serves the swimming needs of the gay/lesbian community and its friends. We represent the Seattle area for International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics (IGLA), and are also members of the local masters swim organization Pacific Northwest Aquatics (PNA). Our social group of approximately 60 swimmers varies from people who periodically swim with us for fitness to swimmers who train to compete at various swim meets and triathlons locally and throughout the world. We welcome women and men of all abilities ages 18 and older to our group. Workouts are typically available 4 times a week at Seattle University Connolly Center. After workout on Fridays the team typically picks a restaurant for dinner. Additionally the team has potlucks, parties, a quarterly newsletter, and hosts an annual swim meet (inviting swimmers from all over the world). Some swimmers also organize informal lake swims in the summer. See our website for more information at http://www.orcaswimteam.org.
